Meet Susana
I became an officiant because a friend was looking for someone that could facilitate a bilingual wedding. I did my first wedding in July of 2019 and here I am five years later enjoying each wedding more than the last!
I love working with our couples to craft personalized wedding ceremonies, whether in Spanish, English, or both. My goal is to create a ceremony that will be meaningful to them and their wedding guests.
One of my favorite aspects of a Spanish speaking bilingual wedding are the cultural elements that the couple brings to incorporate into the wedding. Many like to include an arras coins ceremony and/or Lazo ceremony to their weddings.
One of the most culturally unique weddings I’ve officiated was a traditional Filipino wedding at Canal Street Inn. It was so interesting to learn the many rituals involved in their ceremonies that highlight the importance of family and community in creating a new family through the union of the bride and groom.
Whether I’m working on an elopement or a 200 person wedding, my key objective is to make the ceremony special to the couple and ensure that we are fulfilling any traditions and rituals that they may have.
